Juwan Chambers is the Chief Executive Officer at Switch Up Entertainment. In this position, he is responsible for all day-to-day management decisions, building and establishing his vision for the company, implementing long and short-term goals, supervising the individual departments, and making sure everything runs smoothly.
Chambers was born and raised in Queens, New York. Since he was a toddler, Juwan was fond of writing, acting, and singing. As a kid, he wrote short stories and would play pretend with his older sister. For a while, he loved singing and was set on becoming a singer, but at the age of 9, the filmmaking bug bit him. After seeing Tyler Perry make movies and run his own studio, Chambers was inspired to be just like him so he taught himself how to write screenplays, and how film sets and the industry worked.
During his sophomore year of high school, his family had moved from Georgia to New Jersey. He attended Triton Regional High School where he met Cathy Stelling, whom he formed a close bond with after asking her to revise his screenplays. Stelling convinced Chambers to join the spring musical, which she was the Assistant Director of, and he became the student director and stage manager of the musical 2 years in a row.
In 2014, Chambers graduated and went on to the University of Hartford. It was his freshmen year of undergrad where he befriended Christie, Tillman, and Martin, who were all already friends. The summer following his freshman year, Martin reached out to Chambers with the idea of doing a short film. After their original concept fell through, Chambers suggested they work on a script he wrote for one of his cinema classes. This script later became One Night. Whilst casting One Night, Martin and Chambers were interested in continuing their partnership and decided to make a documentary and this went on to become Say Our Names.
While making both projects, Chambers was sure he wanted to continue this partnership and get a jumpstart on being the owner of his film company, and thus Switch Up Entertainment was born. In the summer of 2016, Chambers began approaching what is now his executive team about joining him in making Switch Up Entertainment.
In May 2018, Chambers graduated Cum Laude from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema and a minor in Sociology and is set on making Switch Up Entertainment a major player in the entertainment industry and becoming one of Hollywood's biggest writers, directors, and producers.
